Natter’s provides New York City Eduation Bluebook, a calendar that caputers all events related to NYC Department of Education, including cultural events.  The calendars are sold as desk size, letter size and pocket size.  It also offers an electronic version that is compatible with Microsoft Outlook.

Our company was established in 1972 by Irving Natter, a former school teacher and assistant principal. Irv’s job was to plan and organize school activities, which turned out to be more complicated than it appeared at first. There was no single source for the accurate, up-to-date information he needed. As the saying goes, necessity being the mother of invention, the unique “Natter’s New York City SCHOOL CALENDAR™” was born.

Irv decided to design and setup a school year calendar in order to aid planning and avoid conflicts. As an educator, he added information that he knew both principals and classroom teachers could use.

Irv did the extensive research and designed a wall & desk-size calendar that shades all non-school days and includes legal holidays, religious holidays, and ethnic and cultural holidays. He added standardized test days, report card distribution days, teacher and professional days, etc. For classroom use, he included noteworthy educational, patriotic and historic days including annual Presidential Proclamations.

For the office, the information in the daily boxes helps avoid conflicts when entering class trips, plays, science fairs, teacher absences, graduation days, etc. For the classroom, the information helps the teacher list due dates for reports, indicates when pupil religious absence is excused, helps coordinate pupil activities with the curriculum and records classroom activities, etc.

In doing the research, Irv found there was no comprehensive, easy-to-use, up-to-date reference guide to the New York City school system. Two years later, Irv published the first pocket-size “Natter’s New York City EDUCATION BLUEBOOK™” which contained the above calendar and a complete education directory. The “Bluebook” or “Natter’s”, as it often referred to, has become known as the definitive reference to the school system, used by thousands of principals, assistant principals, administrators, teachers, parents, school staff, custodians and vendors.

In 2011 “Natter’s NYC School Calendar App” went live. Available on the App Store and Google Play for your iPhone/ipad or Android device.
