Amas Musical Theatre, founded in 1968 by veteran actress Rosetta Le Noire, is one of New York City’s leading non-profit professional theatre companies. Amas or “you love” (in Latin) is devoted to the creation, development and professional production of new American musicals, the celebration of diversity and minority perspectives, the emergence of new artistic talent, and the training and encouragement of underserved urban youth.
Arts Education Programming:
Amas Musical Theatre Education Programs are available at both In-School and After-School sites. Our signature programs can be used as templates as we partner with schools and agencies to develop unique programming that meets their exact needs. Our programs give students the opportunity to explore and develop their creativity, while providing a means to build essential life and academic skills, address social issues, generate empathy for others, and artistically collaborate with their peers. Our programs include: The Immigration Experience (Grades: Middle and High School) Living Museum (Grades 6-8) Lens on Live Theatre (All Grades) Broadway Challenge (pre-teens/teens) Broadway Babies (Pre-K – K) Passport Around the World (Grades 2-5)
